My name is Sara.
I've been many things. I’ve sold running shoes, framed pictures, washed dishes, competed in powerlifting meets, and done plenty of rewarding work as a neuropsychologist.
Today I'm a writer. A California-based essayist with a deep love for true stories that don’t always behave. In 2024, I began an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at St. Mary’s College. I focus on turning messy, real-life moments into compelling stories.
At home, the odds aren’t great. I have four kids, two dogs, and a husband who (thankfully) tolerates my deep devotion to sour gummies.
My free time is limited. Outside of writing, I work with neurodivergent individuals in a clinical setting. For years, I also trained and competed in powerlifting, an all-in pursuit that taught me about focus and failure.
These days, it’s less chalk and more commas. Less weight on the bar, more pressure on the page. But the rhythm is the same: Show up, put in the reps, and trust that progress comes one try at a time.
I'm building a writing life one submission, one rejection, and one true sentence at a time.
